School foundation hosting golf fundraiser
A golf tournament fundraiser to benefit Madison County Schools will be held at Whisper Lake Golf Club at the end of the month.
Tim Pickett, tournament co-chair and Madison County Schools Education Foundation vice president, said the event will support programs and initiatives that enhance education in the Madison County School District.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to host our inaugural golf tournament fundraiser,” Pickett said.
The tournament will feature a four-person scramble. Check-in will begin at 7 a.m., with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The tournament will conclude with an awards ceremony, followed by lunch.
Fees are $125 per golfer or $500 per team. Pickett said these fees include range, cart, tee and green fees as well as a hamburger lunch and complimentary beverages on the green.
“We encourage golf enthusiasts, community leaders, and businesses and organizations to support the golf tournament by registering as a team or by becoming a sponsor,” Pickett said.
Registration is open through Thursday, August 22, and sponsorship opportunities are still available, Chamar McDonald, tournament co-chair and MCSEF board member said.
“The golf tournament is a great way to raise money to help us fulfill our mission of promoting academic excellence, introducing programs that will enhance learning and recognizing accomplishments of the school district,” McDonald said. “At the same time, the tournament will give the Foundation more exposure within the community. Through fundraisers like this one, we hope to be able to provide sustained financial support for district programs and initiatives.”
Pickett touted the district’s A-rated schools that serve more than 13,000 students with nearly 1,800 teachers and staff.
“It’s crucial to have community support to help the district continue to thrive,” Pickett said.
Whisper Lake Country Club is located at 414 Annandale Parkway in Madison County.
The Madison County Schools Education Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, was launched in March 2019 to raise additional funds to invest in the schools, students and teachers within Madison County Schools.
Registration is open through Thursday, August 22, and sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information about the tournament or to become a sponsor, visit www.mcsef.org/golf-tournament.
