Scarecrow Fest moving to Liberty Park

Madison’s annual Scarecrow Festival is being moved to Liberty Park this year due to construction behind the Red Caboose on Main Street and the number of expected participants.

Amy Cummins, events coordinator for the city of Madison, said the Scarecrow Festival is a family-friendly event where people can come out and relax while enjoying dinner from food trucks and listening to live music.

The festival takes place this year on Thursday, Oct. 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the Liberty Park soccer fields on the Madison Avenue side.

“We decided to move it to Liberty Park since the event continues to grow and there’s construction going on behind the Red Caboose,” Cummins said. “We’ll have a couple new inflatables, a cake walk, crafts, games, a photo booth, a couple new food trucks, train rides, face painting, a petting zoo, and live music. We also are starting at 5 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. like we usually do because we wanted to give the event an extra hour this year.”

Cummins said people can bring their own chairs and blankets and listen to live music while getting dinner from various food trucks.

“There will be plenty of room for everyone,” she said.  “It’s a family-friendly event that’s been going on as long as I can remember. It’s an evening where people can come out and relax and let their kids play to kick off the fall season.”

The Scarecrow Festival is free, while vendor prices vary with the food trucks. For more information, call the Madison Community Partners office at 601-856-7060.
