RIDGELAND — A seafood restaurant here will improve its outdoor dining options after city officials gave the go-ahead last Tuesday.

Community Development Director Alan Hart presented a petition and application for a dimensional variance for Casey Wagner and Jimmie Herrington of Sal & Phil’s seafood restaurant on Old Canton Road.

Hart said that the variance will allow them to improve their existing outdoor dining space to “help combat COVID.”

The restaurant will make improvements to the existing outdoor seating on the side of the building facing Raintree Road.

In other board action:

• Approved a petition and application for a dimensional variance for Sartian Associates, Inc.

• Authorized Mayor Gene McGee to sign a second amendment to a tower attachment lease agreement with T Mobile South for their equipment on city property at 6960 Old Canton Road. Equipment includes a propane generator with fuel tank, transmission lines, nine remote radio units, junction boxes, six antennas and three Hybrid HCS 2.0 lines.

• Approved deputy clerk appointments for the municipal court.

• Approved Verkada as a sole source vendor for the police department. Verkada is a cloud-managed physical security system platform for the department, Police Chief John Neal said.

• Approved a budget amendment for appraisal and ad valorem tax payment.
