Luke Rounsaville, a 6th grader at Madison Middle School, has won the Elementary Division of the Mississippi Regionals Final for the 2022 International Geography Championships (IGC).

The Mississippi Regionals Final was held at Richton High School on Saturday, May 7.

Through three successively intense rounds, competitors were quizzed on national and international geographic knowledge.

Representing Madison Middle School, Rounsaville competed against fellow students in his age group from around the state, placing first in every round and securing the overall division win.

In winning his division, Rounsaville qualified to represent Mississippi at both the National and International IGC events this summer in Orlando, Florida, and Burlington Vermont, respectively.

There, he will face top geography students from across the country and around the world vying for national and international IGC titles. Luke is the son of John and Laura Rounsaville of Madison.
