Ridgeland PD gives Christmas to laid-off grandmother and young children

A grandmother who was laid off from a limited-income job and has eight dependants in her household was given Christmas by the Ridgeland Police Department this week.

RPD said they “were blessed to come into this family's life due to unfortunate circumstances (it’s not important why)" and realized the grandmother not only takes care of her own child but other family members as well.

The grandmother is responsible for children ages 18 months old to 19 years old  — including a special needs child.

“Our department was led to provide Santa Clause to this family,” the department said Wednesday.

RPD went on to say, “During this trying year we will remember as 2020 — know there is always a need to pay your blessings forward.”

They said many families are in need and “if we were able to provide, it is our pleasure.”

In a Facebook post, the department said, “The smile and happiness is return is our blessing in return. Emotionally moved by the giving spirit of this ENTIRE Ridgeland PD family as all personnel helped out. Merry Christmas to the community we serve and Happy Birthday Jesus.”
