(RIDGELAND, MS) This Friday, April 21, 2023, in honor of Earth Day, Renaissance at Colony Park and NexTech will offer residents a way to dispose of E-Waste with a Disposal Event to be held at Renaissance at Colony Park in Ridgeland, Mississippi. E-Waste includes unwanted electronic devices, including computers (PCs/laptops), monitors, televisions, printers, fax machines, cell phones, wiring, etc. The event is being offered to avoid improper disposal which carries the risk of exposure of sensitive personal information and environmental contamination. NexTech will have a company truck and crew onsite at Renaissance at Colony Park to help residents unload equipment and will provide services at no charge or for reduced fees.

The almost-daily introduction of new technology results in millions of obsolete and unwanted electronic devices – or E-Waste, as it is termed. Businesses often have contracts with E-Waste/IT Asset Recovery/Disposal companies like NexTech that implement sustainable asset recovery and recycling programs. Residents, however, often struggle to find the proper way to dispose of E-Waste. Jan Mattiace, Renaissance spokesperson affirmed, “It is important to Renaissance at Colony Park to honor our community and our environment. As a part of that philosophy, we are pleased to partner with NexTech to offer our community a way to securely and sustainably dispose of unwanted technology devices.” Brad Cohen, CEO, elaborated on the growing E-Waste problem and NexTech’s participation in the event. “When people think of household waste, they usually picture typical trash and maybe plastics and paper for recycling, but they often overlook the fastest-growing municipal waste stream in America which is electronic waste – what we call E- Waste. In looking at the broader picture of E-Waste, the residents of Mississippi have enormous amounts of old, out-of-use cell phones, computers and other electronic devices, and they need an environmentally friendly and secure solution to dispose of those devices. Part of our mission to help solve the E-Waste problem is to provide our E-Waste disposal solutions to our fellow Mississippians.”
