Police respond to mental patient at Yacht Club
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Ridgeland Police Department, responded to a call involving a mental patient at or near the Jackson Yacht Club last week.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Heath Hall said that they were able to clear the scene peacefully on Oct. 2 off of Yacht Club Road on the Reservoir Friday morning.
“We responded to a call regarding a mental patient who was taken into custody without incident and then transported to a hospital for treatment by medical personnel,” Hall said.
The incident lasted about two hours. Ridgeland officials say they were called to the scene about 10:30 a.m. and cleared the scene at 12:35 p.m.
Police Chief John Neal said that his department assisted but that he did not have much further information as it was a Sheriff’s Office matter.
“Sheriff’s office had a mental patient call we assisted with but it was their call,” Neal said.
