Pepsi Pops concert rescheduled for Friday

RIDGELAND -- The 41st Annual Pepsi Pops concert at Old Trace Park has been rescheduled for this Friday (May 27) after being postponed two weeks ago due to bad weather.

The twinkling waters of the Rez offer a picnic-perfect setting for families, couples, youth, and seniors to soak up the beloved pops standards that make this concert a yearly hit.

The annual tradition began back in 1981, when the Brown Bottling Group partnered with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. The concert featured not only MSO members, but some of the 650 from Jackson schools at the time who studied string instruments with symphony members.

The gates open at 5:30 p.m., and chairs, blankets, and food are welcome. Organizers ask participants to not bring glass, alcohol, or tents.

VIP parking passes can be purchased at the gate off Post Road.

Pre-concert entertainment includes the David Keary Jazz Trio at 6 p.m., with Keary on guitar, Temperance Babcock on violin, and Tyler Kemp on keyboard.
The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra begins performing at 7:30 p.m. with Crafton Beck as Music Director and Conductor. Fireworks will be in conjunction with the con- cert finale.

Add in bobbing boats, a picturesque sunset, and starry skies topped off with fire- works, and participants can expect an unforgettable out- door experience.

Tickets in advance are $15 each and $20 each at the gate. For more information, call

601-856-6574. You can find Old Trace park at 422 Post Road in Ridgeland.
