New COVID-19 cases remain low throughout county

Madison County recorded 57 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in the past week, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health’s Wednesday, Oct. 27, COVID-19 report.

Madison County has now recorded a total of 14,725 COVID-19 cases and 281 deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020, according to MSDH.

Madison County continues to have one of the state’s highest vaccination rates with 66,221 or 62% of people having received one dose of a vaccine and 61,432 or 58% of people having received two doses.

Vaccines are currently being administered at Walgreens, Walmart, Kroger and CVS locations in Madison.

Madison County Schools reported eight total active district cases for the week of Oct. 25. The active case percentage of the on-campus population is 0.1%. The school district recorded 9 people quarantining.

Statewide, since the pandemic began in March 2020, 289,888 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded by the MSDH along with 215,773 probable cases, totaling 505,661 cases. There have been 6,782 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, along with 3,352 probable deaths, totaling 10,134 deaths.
