Mississippi Republican Party elects Lesley A. Davis new RNC Committeewoman from Mississippi
Mike Hurst, Chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party, announced today that the MSGOP’s State Central Committee has elected a new RNC Committeewoman for Mississippi.
After being endorsed by Governor Tate Reeves last week, Current MSGOP Vice Chair Lesley A. Davis was nominated by Treasurer David McRae, seconded by Desoto County Board of Supervisors President Lee Caldwell, and elected by a unanimous vote of the State Executive Committee earlier today to replace longtime RNC Committeewoman for Mississippi Jeanne Luckey, who recently passed away. Former longtime MSGOP Chairman Jim Herring spoke glowingly in favor of Lesley’s nomination, as did Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch.
“Lesley is a lifelong conservative Republican, and I can think of no better person to represent Mississippi and to continue to fight for our shared values and principles as conservatives than Lesley. Our state has been blessed by her service as MSGOP Vice Chair, and we will continue to benefit from her leadership and her sacrifice as RNC Committeewoman. Today is a great day for our state and the Mississippi Republican Party,” said Hurst.
Lesley is the Founder and President of Mississippi Advocacy Group, LLC, a public policy and governmental affairs firm. She previously served as the Interim CEO and President of the Mississippi Center for Public Policy. Lesley has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Mississippians, is a 2023 Rankin County Republican Woman Leader of the Year, has received awards from the Mississippi Federation of Republican Women for her legislative work, and is the sole recipient of the national 2022 Delta Gamma Leadership Shield Award. Lesley received her law degree from The University of Baltimore School of Law. After law school, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Arlin M. Adams, United States Office of Independent Counsel, in Washington D.C. and was subsequently hired as a Staff Associate Prosecuting Attorney in the Independent Counsel’s Office. She later worked as a partner in a Baltimore law firm. She received her undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University, where she served as Executive Director of the College Republicans, President of the Pre-Law Society, Student Association Attorney General, was a member of the varsity basketball team, was elected homecoming queen, and served as MSU Director for future U.S. Senator Trent Lott’s first senatorial campaign.
