The city of Canton and officials from MidSouth Renewables announced late last month the company’s plan to build a new production facility in the area.

Joey Deason, executive director of Madison County Economic Development Authority, made the announcement with MidSouth and Canton officials on Sept. 28. The new facility will be located at the Canton Industrial Park.

“We are pleased to support MidSouth Renewables as the company locates its newest operations in our state, creating new career opportunities for people in the Madison county area,” Deason said

MidSouth Renewables is an oil and lubricant processing and recycling facility for the production of clean, marketable recycled oil and lubricants.

Mike Jones, CEO of MidSouth Renewables said they found two of the “key components” they look for when they are scouting new locations.

“Community leadership and a strong workforce are key components to economic development. Those are two of the many reasons we chose to invest here in Canton and Madison County,” Jones said. “We sincerely thank the City of Canton, Madison County, and MCEDA for their collaboration with us in our search for a business home. We’re ready to get started and look forward to a long-term partnership with our community.”

The new facility is expected to create approximately 47 jobs averaging $50,000 per year with an expected capital investment of approximately $5.7 million dollars.

“We look forward to having MidSouth Renewables grow in our community and assisting in the diversification of our economy,” Deason said. “This economic development win was the result of teamwork by the City of Canton, Madison County, and MCEDA.”

Canton Mayor Dr. William Truly said he was happy to see new jobs come to the city and thanked MCEDA for their part in recruiting MidSouth to the industrial park.

“We are thrilled that MidSouth Renewables is locating to Canton and we are grateful for their investment. Projects like these bring valuable jobs and growth to our community and we appreciate the leadership MCEDA provided to help bring this project to fruition. We welcome MidSouth Renewables to Canton,” Truly said.

The company is headquartered in Arlington, Tenn., and works with various manufacturing companies to supply recycled oil.
