MEA opening new clinic across from Wendy’s

An MEA Medical Clinic is headed for the corner of Gluckstadt Road and Weisenberger Road, across from Wendy’s.

Developer Bridgeforth Rutledge plans to move the clinic into an existing building at 1265 Gluckstadt Road.

The developer wants to remodel the inside and give the exterior a fresh coat of paint, according to Building Official William Hall.

Hall described the current planned scope of work as “minor.”

He said the developer also hopes to make the site more accessible by adding an entrance to the parking lot on Weisenberger Road.

“In case there is a medical reason for somebody to get in and out more quickly,” Hall said.

Alderman Lisa Williams said there was a question about drainage on the site. Hall said there is existing drainage on the site and noted that an assessment of the property found the proposed curb cut on Weisenberger Road would increase drainage. He said the developers also hope to improve water detention on the site.

The clinic received site plan approval from the mayor and board at their regularly scheduled meeting on June 10 with a unanimous 5-0 vote.
