MC's Patrick Robey leaving to take Belhaven job
Madison Central state champion baseball coach Patrick Robey reached an agreement to become the head coach of the Belhaven baseball program, the university announced on Monday.
The move comes a month after Robey clinched the 2025 MHSAA 7A State Championship at the helm of Madison Central. The title was his third in ten seasons with the Jaguars.
Robey also led the Madison Central program to a national championship in 2021, seven region titles in ten years, and was recently named the 7A Coach of the Year for the 2025 season.
Robey does have some college coaching experience, serving as a graduate assistant at Delta State for two seasons and an assistant coach at East Central Community College. He also has scouting experience as an associate scout for the Colorado Rockies. Robey played high school baseball at Taylorsville and played college baseball at both Jones College and Delta State.
Before taking the job at Madison Central, Robey also coached at South Panola for 11 years and was the head coach at Lafayette High School for three years.
After establishing himself as one of the state’s top high school head coaches, Robey will now make the jump to the collegiate level and look to continue the success he has had in building championship-level programs.
“I'm looking forward to building relationships with our current players, securing the roster, building a staff and everything that running a quality program entails", Robey said in a press release from Belhaven. " Baseball is baseball, the relationships are what matter the most. I am anxious to start helping these young men continue their athletic, spiritual, and academic journeys."
Robey’s son, Walker Robey, was a senior on this season’s state championship team and will continue his baseball career at Murray State.
