Man electrocuted by power lines
RIDGELAND — A man here was killed when he was electrocuted by power lines downed as a result of serious weather on Tuesday.
Authorities believe Thomas Lacey Jr., 71, was electrocuted by downed power lines outside his home at Roses Bluff, according to Madison County Deputy Coroner Joel Shows.
The Ridgeland Fire Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Office were called to Winter Teal Place near the Reservoir at about 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, MCSO spokesman Heath Hall said.
Lacey was found on the scene and was believed to be fatally injured when he came into contact with downed power lines in the vicinity of his home. Hall said a fire had started in relation to the downed lines.
A female neighbor was also injured in the incident and was taken to a hospital
