Man arrested for shooting wife
A Canton man has been arrested and charged in the non-fatal shooting of his wife earlier this month.
The man, Billy Odell Bland, 45, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and felon carrying a concealed weapon.
He remains in the Madison County Detention Center on $1,010,000 in bond.
Canton Police officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence on Martin Luther King Drive on the evening of Friday, Nov 15, Canton Police Chief Otha Brown said.
“The call said he jumped on her, and they had a physical fight,” Brown said.
Bland and his wife had left the scene when CPD arrived, Brown said.
Reportedly, Bland took his wife to a spot near a lake off of Davidson Crossing Road and shot her, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department Spokesman Heath Hall.
Bland was apprehended by the MCSO and United States Marshals brought in about 7 a.m. on Nov. 16.
