Man arrested for Florida sex crimes
A Ridgeland man wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in Florida was arrested here during a traffic stop last month.
The man, Ladarrius Rasheed Martin, 37, was arrested on four counts of felony sexual assault of a minor, Ridgeland Police Lt. Brett Bertucci said.
The charges are from Escambia County, Florida, where the alleged crimes took place, he said.
On Saturday, Sept. 21, at 7:30 p.m., officers with the Ridgeland Police Department conducted a traffic stop near Old Canton Road and William Boulevard. The driver was identified as Martin.
The officer determined Martin was wanted by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida for sexual assault of a minor.
Martin was arrested and transported to the Madison County Detention Center. He was extradited by ECSO on Oct. 1.
