MADISON — The city’s annual Easter in the Park event at Liberty Park on April 1 will have a large variety of fun activities for kids, and thousands of eggs to hunt down.

Amy Cummins, director of Madison Community Partners, said the event is free to all and will be a fun-filled morning for families.

“We have 10,000 eggs we’ll be using for the egg hunts, along with other activities including inflatables, crafts, tattoos, train rides, and cookie decorating,” Cummins said. “There will also be popcorn and water.”

Easter in the Park is on Sat., April 1 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Liberty Park, and will begin with a puppet show at 9:15 presented by Broadmoor Baptist Church.

Egg hunts begin at 9:30 a.m. with ages 0-4 on Field 8, and continue with the egg hunt for children with special needs at 9:40 a.m. on Field 7, and comes to a close with the egg hunt for ages 5-6 and 7-8 at 9:50 a.m. on Field 6.

“The city has been doing Easter in the Park for a long time,” Cummins said. “It started out at Strawberry Patch Park and as it grew, they had to move it to Liberty Park for more parking and a larger space.”

Along with the festivities, the Easter Bunny will be on site to take pictures and hand out candy.

“Kids need to be here on time or they might miss it,” Cummins said. “Once the eggs are gone, they’re gone. It will be a lot of fun for the whole family. The fields will be roped off during the hunt.”
