Madison Police are investigating a Tuesday morning fire death.
Firefighters responded to a house on Spring Hill Drive at 10:22 a.m., which was “fully engulfed with an elderly female still inside,” the authorities said.
Madison fire and police personnel began rescue efforts to locate and bring the elderly female inside the house to safety.
Pafford EMS was able to transport the female to UMMC, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
An adult male who lived at the residence was outside in the driveway. The male was treated on the scene and later transported to UMMC, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
The Madison Fire Department has also requested the assistance of the State Fire Marshal's Office to help with the investigation.
Madison Police said no further information is available due to the nature of the call and the notification of next of kin.
