MADISON — A trio of Canton juveniles was arrested in Ridgeland after leading Madison Police on a brief chase down the interstate in a stolen vehicle.

According to Madison police Lt. Micah Taylor, two of the juveniles are 14 years old, including the driver. The third is 16 years old.

“The three males were all identified as juveniles,” Taylor said. “Therefore, the names are being withheld at this time.”

The driver is being charged with felony fleeing, felony receiving stolen property, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

The other two were charged with felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

All juveniles involved will be housed at the Warren County Youth Detention Center. Their cases will be presented to Madison County Youth Court.

On January 24, just after 9 p.m., a Madison officer, while patrolling Interstate 55, spotted a 2019 Black Kia Soul that was reported stolen out of Jackson on January 23, Micah said.

The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the Kia Soul around mile-marker 109 just north of the Madison exit. Taylor said the driver then continued south on Interstate 55 in an attempt to flee law enforcement.

The car exited the interstate at the North Frontage Road exit in Ridgeland, where another Madison police officer successfully deployed spike strips, and the Kia Soul came to a final rest at the West Frontage Road and Colony Park intersection in Ridgeland, Taylor said.

Taylor said three black males exited the vehicle and began running from officers.

“With the assistance of Ridgeland Police Department and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, all three males were taken into custody without incident,” Taylor said.
