Madison Farmer’s Market winding down on Tuesday
MADISON — The Farmer’s Market is coming to a close for the summer as the last event nears on Tuesday.
“It has been wonderful,” said City Event Coordinator Beth Durrett. “Everybody just enjoys it. It is a weekly family festival where people can bring their kids and grab a bite to eat and get their vegetables for the week.”
Every Tuesday in June, the city of Madison hosts its Farmer’s Market from 4-7 p.m. next to the iconic Red Caboose on Main Street. Tuesday, June 25, will be the last event for this year.
The event hosts about 30 vendors who sell everything from fresh produce, baked goods, meat and hand-crafted items.
“People love it,” Durrett said. “The vendors tell us it is one of the better ones they do.”
Durrett said one vendor has brought blueberries that “taste like candy.”
“This is probably the last week or two to get fresh blueberries so this is going to be some people’s last chance to get them in the freezer,” she said.
Durrett said attendance often depends on the weather, but there are usually between 200 and 300 people coming and going.
In addition to goods for sale, the Farmer’s Market offers live music and activities for kids that include free face painting. On Tuesday, Hunter Gibson will be the musical act at the event to close the season.
Food vendors will also be on site.
Free parking is available across the street at First Baptist Church of Madison.
