The infection rate in Madison County continues to increase, with 140 cases reported in the last week. The total here now is 2,802.

The state had not released Wednesday’s figures by press time.

On Tuesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health announced 801 new cases of COVID-19, along with676 new deaths.

In total, 79,206 Mississippians have either been confirmed or presumed to have COVID-19, with 2,315 total deaths.

As of Tuesday, the state reported 81 COVID-related deaths in Madison County, up six from 76 last week. There have been 22 cases in long-term care facilities and 41 deaths.

The MSDH is reporting statewide that hospitalizations have declined from 929 to 778 since last week, with ICU patients down from 284 to 234. Ventilator usage dropped from 163 to 124.

The MSDH is estimated that 62,707 are presumed to have recovered from COVID-19.
