Madison County Schools celebrate retirement of educators

Madison County Schools celebrated retirees from across the district on May 2 at a brunch in their honor held at the Charlotte Harness Seals Performing Arts Center at Germantown High School.

School district communications director Gene Graham said administrators spoke about each retiree, sharing stories about their dedication and impact on the lives of their students.

Superintendent of Education Ted Poore said this group of about 45 retirees represents more than 1,000 years of service to Madison County's students.

“Whether as teachers in the classroom, servers in the cafeteria, or as administrators in our schools and district office, these professionals have been a part of our students’ success and the overall success of our district,” Poore said. “They leave behind an incredible legacy of excellence. We are so thankful for their service and wish them all the best in a well-deserved retirement.”

Graham said BankPlus sponsored retirement gifts for the retirees. Elior catered the meal served by Ridgeland High School Academy of Culinary Arts students.

Graham offered a special thanks to Ellen Aregood, Jenny Burroughs, and Kim Kremser for organizing the celebration.
