Madison boy’s wish to go to Disney World has been granted
A Madison County boy will be heading to Disney World soon, thanks to having his wish granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Six year old Lincoln Loecher recently had his wish granted by the foundation and Tauzin Wealth Management of Ridgeland, in a ceremony held at the Mississippi Children’s Museum in Jackson.
“They really just went all-out for him and he is just really excited,” Lincoln’s mother, Leigh Loecher said. “The Make-A-Wish foundation has just been so great to us with constant communication, answering all our questions, and everything they have done for us.”
Lincoln was born with Chronic Kidney Disease due to PUV, which only affects about 1 in 8,000 boys. His Chronic Kidney Disease is currently in stage two. He has only one functioning kidney, which has caused him to have to be on medication and a special diet for his whole life.
“Our doctors and nurses have been like family to us through every step of this process and they really have become a part of our life,” Loecher said. “His Nephrology Nurse Traci Dickens has been really great with him throughout the whole process.”
The family were given the idea about Make-A-Wish from one of the volunteers and ended up submitting a request online, starting the process when he was five years old. Their request was sent to a doctor for approval, and once that was signed off, Lincoln’s wish was granted.
Lincoln’s mother says that he especially wanted to fly to Disney World since he has never been on an airplane before. While she says that Lincoln is into anything and everything, he especially loves superheroes.
“He really wanted to fly since he's never flown before, so that was a big part in his decision on Disney World for his wish,” Loecher said. “He enjoys all of the Disney Movies that he has seen and has never been to Disney World, so he is very excited and we are looking forward to it.”
