MADISON — Six high-end condominiums, a general store, and other future retail spaces are coming to 145 Republic Street in The Town of Lost Rabbit here.

Developers hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on July 28 and hope to have the general store open by Fall 2022 and start accepting tenants in the condominiums by Spring 2023.

Todd Everett of Everett Consulting Group said the new condos and general store will provide another upscale residential offering in their traditional neighborhood development with a marketplace for Lost Rabbit and the surrounding area.

“It's truly an amenity to enhance the quality of life for all residents, as well as our neighbors,” Everett said.

The new building, which is estimated at 15,020 square feet, will offer retail with the general store and residential spaces with the condos, along with waterside views of the Ross Barnett Reservoir.

The building is being developed by the Madison-based Everett Consulting Group. Its construction is the next phase of a successful plan for mixed-use developments on the water at Lost Rabbit.

The project includes the general store and other retail spaces on the bottom floor, and the six high-end condominiums on the top two floors. It is being designed by Dunaway Williams Architects, a firm with over 30 years of experience in the Jackson metropolitan area.

Carley Dunaway, owner and architect at Dunaway Williams, said the firm is excited to continue work in the Town of Lost Rabbit.

“In the last phase of construction, we became the first architects to bring Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) construction to Mississippi,” Dunaway said. “Once again we are thrilled to use CLT, bringing a sustainable method of design and construction to Mississippi creating a unique living experience.”

He said the use of CLT allows for greater design flexibility and is a sustainable method of building.

A Mississippi-based construction company, AnderCorp, is managing the project. Chris Monsour, vice president of AnderCorp, said the company’s Jackson office is leading the construction process and is excited about how this project will positively impact the area’s economic development.

“AnderCorp is pleased to serve as construction manager executing the vision for a mixed-use development that will add more amenities and condominium living to Lost Rabbit, which is crucial for the community’s continued growth and development,” Monsour said. “As part of our commitment to utilizing sustainable construction products, we take pride in being trusted with building the largest CLT project in the state.”
