Local author publishes book on bullying

Tina Lakey of Madison County recently wrote and published a book on bullying titled "I'm Just Kidding."
In Lakey's book, she gives examples of how words can hurt in storybook format.
"Last year, a friend was telling me about her 9-year-old little girl being picked on at school about her father dying on her birthday," Lakey said. "That precious child, who suffered such a huge loss, is now being bullied at school. That is when I knew it was time to publish this book. Those kids were making her feel less than who she is. A sweet precious loving caring innocent child. It broke my heart our children would hurt each other in such a way. Our precious children are taking drastic measures because of others words."
Lakey plans on attending events and reading her book to children in the state.
