Lipscomb tapped to lead MRA baseball
Chad Lipscomb was recently promoted to the position of Head Baseball Coach for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, after serving on the MRA baseball staff as an assistant coach for the Patriots for the last 16 years, with 14 of the years under former coach Allen Pavette.
“I am deeply grateful to our administration for the opportunity to lead MRA baseball,” Lipscomb said in a statement. “The experience and guidance I've received have been invaluable, and I am both excited and eager to embark on this new journey. I look forward to building on the strong foundation we've established and continuing the growth and success of our baseball program.”
Lipscomb replaces a legendary coach in Pavette, who won two state titles in his time at the helm of the MRA program, those coming in 2012 and 2016, which Lipscomb was a part of the staff for. Pavette leaves the program with over 700 wins and a total of five state championships in his 31 seasons as a head coach.
Lipscomb is a graduate of Delta State University, where he played baseball and won a Gulf South Conference Championship, along with a Division II World Series appearance in his time at the school.
He also has coaching experience at Adams County Christian, where he was the Junior High head football coach and head varsity baseball coach.
Lipscomb then coached at Manchester Academy from 2000-2008 in a variety of different positions, including head baseball and football coach for the school.
In 2008, Lipscomb moved over to MRA, where he has served in positions with the football and baseball programs and has been with the school ever since.
MRA is coming off of another great season, as the Patriots finished with a 24-14 record against a gauntlet of a schedule, before falling to eventual MAIS 6A champions Jackson Prep in the semifinals.
Lipscomb will look to continue the MRA baseball program’s winning tradition and should have a plethora of talent to work with in his first season at the helm.
