Leslie McDonald
Leslie McDonald, 79, of Madison, Mississippi, passed away on May 11, 2025.
Born on November 4, 1945, in Crystal Springs, Leslie was the son of Leonard and Dessie McDonald. He was one of nine children, four of whom are still living.
Leslie was a graduate of Crystal Springs High School and a veteran who honorably served in the Army National Guard. His zest for life was infectious, and he especially enjoyed the music and spirit of Jimmy Buffett—attending his concerts whenever he could and soaking up the joy of the moment.
He married the love of his life, and they raised their children in Tupelo. He spent his life devoted to family, community, and the craft he loved. A skilled barber by trade, Leslie worked side by side with his beloved wife, Mary McDonald, throughout the majority of his long and respected career. Together, they built The Hair Tailors. It wasn’t just a business, but a place where friends and neighbors felt at home.
Leslie’s love for life extended well beyond the hair salon. A devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, he found his greatest joy in time spent with family.
Leslie will be remembered for his steady hands, kind heart, and endless patience. His legacy lives on in the countless people he touched through his work, his service, and his love.
He is survived by his wife, Mary 79, and their children: Mark Murray, Steven McDonald(Jenn), Chris Stover-Douglass (Doug), and Michael Murray (Jenn).
He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. His family is honoring his request for a private farewell. He preferred to be remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. We invite those who wish to pay tribute to do so in their own meaningful way, by sharing a memory, raising a glass in his honor, or simply taking a quiet moment to reflect on the impact he had.
