Late senator’s son arrested for stalking
MADISON — A New Albany man has been arrested for stalking someone in the Cypress Lake subdivision.
The man, Thaddeus Clayton Cochran, 58, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing, and stalking in the incident earlier this month, according to Madison Police Lieutenant Micah Taylor.
Cochran, the son of the late U.S. Senator Thad Cochran, is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Thursday afternoon.
On May 9, Madison Police responded to a residence in the Cypress Lake Subdivision about a report of stalking and harassment.
Officials soon identified the suspect as Cochran.
While officers were on scene at the residence, Taylor said the MPD dispatch advised Cochran was at the police department.
Taylor said officers then returned to the police department and made contact with Cochran. As they attempted to interview Cochran regarding the initial call, he became belligerent towards officers, Taylor said.
Cochran was ultimately placed under arrest without incident and charged.
Taylor has declined to provide more information about the arrest, stating that further details would risk identifying the victim.
On May 11, Cochran had an initial appearance at Madison Municipal Court on all charges.
Cochran is currently being held at the Madison County Detention Center without bond.
