Beloved Juan A Martinez, known by family and friends as Tony, passed away in his home on Sunday, 11/29/20 at the age of 80. 

Tony moved from Atlanta Georgia to Jackson MS with his family in 1986. He was a waiter and Maitre’d by profession and in 1988, was honored with the Mississippi Restaurant Association’s Silver Spoon Award for his ‘Spirit of Hospitality’. 

He worked at several of Jackson’s restaurants including 400 East Capital, Sundancer, Times Change and the Hilton, where he enjoyed his many interactions with those patrons until his retirement. He was born in Talca, Chile and moved to the United States of America in 1970. He was christened in the Catholic Church as a youth, and attended services for a number of years at Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Boykin Martinez, his two sons Anthony L and Daniel S, and six grandchildren, Avery C Martinez, Connor R Martinez, Ayden W Martinez, Ava I Martinez, Noah S Martinez and Abram S Martinez.
