JA’s Moss ranked ninth in the U.S.
Caden Moss has always had a love for football, from his time growing up in the small town of Lake, Mississippi, to his first experience playing football in the second grade, Moss has always had a passion for the game of football.
Now, that passion and hard work has started to pay off for him, as he was recently rated as ninth-ranked prospect in the entire country for the class of 2027 by the nationally-acclaimed recruiting service, 247Sports. He is also ranked as the number one prospect in his class in the entire state of Mississippi, after being named a High School Freshman All-American by FBU and playing an important role for Jackson Academy in his freshman season.
“It feels really special,” Moss said. “Coming from a smaller place where people don’t get a lot of opportunities, to being with all the great people here has been great for me.”
Moss was also named a Preseason Sophomore All-American by Max Preps.
Standing at 6’5 and weighing in at 265, the Jackson Academy offensive tackle possesses all the physical traits that a college would want in the trenches, but Moss has shown that he has the mental traits it takes to be a next-level offensive lineman, along with great character off the field.
“The first thing about Caden is that he is super smart and a great person, which separates him right there,” Jackson Academy Head Coach David Duggan said. “He has got the size and dimensions that schools at the next level are looking for, along with long arms, great feet, and really good flexibility.”
Moss currently holds offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Akron, and New Mexico State, a list that should exponentially grow over the next couple of years.
“Ole Miss and Mississippi State have been on me the heaviest so far, just with them being in-state,” Moss said. “The recruiting process has been really good so far, I just have to keep working.”
Moss is also a very good basketball player, playing on the Jackson Academy varsity state championship team last season as a freshman.
While Moss is only a sophomore, he will be one of the more impactful offensive linemen, when he is on the field, in all of Madison County.
“If he continues to work hard, he has a great future ahead of him,” Duggan said.
Jackson Academy will face off with Leake Academy on Friday night in their home opener and in the Madison County Journal Game of the Week. Kickoff is set for 7 PM.
