James Sherrel Armstrong, Jr. of Madison was ushered into glory on March 1, 2022. Jimmy was born in Memphis, TN on May 30, 1953 to Ann and James Sherrel Armstrong, Sr.

He attended Callaway High School (1971 graduate) and Belhaven College (1975 graduate).

Jimmy met his wife Fran while on a blind date (not with each other!), and the rest is history. Jimmy and Fran married on December 17th, 1983, and together they had three daughters, Kimberly, Katelyn and Ann Irvin. His career was in accounting, but his genuine love was in serving his family, friends, and as an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, MS.

He was a dedicated Sunday school teacher for four-year old and first grade children for nearly 20 years. He earned the nickname "Coach" through many years of coaching his daughters' various sports teams.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Fran; daughters Kimberly Sumrall (Jeff), Katelyn Magee (Bill), and Ann Irvin Armstrong; grandchildren, James Sumrall, Morgan Sumrall, and Myers Sumrall; his brother, Mark; and sister, Sherrel Ann Moffat. He is predeceased by his parents, James, Sr. and Ann, and his brother, Allen Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson on  March 5th, 2022. Memorial donations may be made in Jimmy's honor to Twin Lakes Camp, French Camp, or the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi.
