The Madison Central High School Jag Singers Booster Club is hosting the inaugural Deep South Classic Golf Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Whisper Lake Country Club to benefit the choral and theatre departments at Madison Central High School and Rosa Scott School.

The tournament begins at noon, with an 11 a.m. check-in and lunch on Tuesday, Nov. 2, said Becky Covington, treasurer of the Jag Singers. The tournament consists of 18 holes of golf and should last approximately four hours.

A team of four players costs $400, and the package includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, lunch, and prizes.

“Each team has a chance at a $10,000 hole-in-one shot at hole nine, along with other cash prizes for the first, second and third-place teams,” Covington said. “There’s still time to register through the weekend if anyone else wants to participate

The Jag Singers serve as the fundraising arm for the choral and theatre department at the schools, Covington said.

The fundraisers, such as the golf tournament, Covington said, make shows such as Madison Central’s current production of “Shrek the Musical” possible.

“We decided to have it on Nov. 2 since it’s when the golf course was available to have the event, and most golf charity events are during the week,” Covington said. “The tournament is to support the Jag Singers Booster Club since our students pay fees to participate in all of our choir events. This tournament is one of these fundraisers to raise some much-needed money for the program.”

Covington said the tournament begins at noon, with an 11 a.m. check-in and lunch. She said the entire tournament is 18 holes of golf and should last around four hours.
