I-55 section closed off this Sunday
A portion of I-55 between Madison and Ridgeland will be closed this weekend so that Entergy can replace a power line across the interstate.
Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers is urging everyone to use caution while traveling during this time and to be aware of some congestion.
According to Myers, I-55 will be shut down from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, at the Colony Park exit going Northbound in Ridgeland and at the Madison Avenue exit Southbound in Madison while Entergy replaces a power line.
Traffic will be diverted to Highland Colony Parkway and U.S. Highway 51 at the exits mentioned above during this time.
Madison police say Entergy will be pulling a new line across Interstate 55 as well as both Frontage Roads around the area of Carl Avenue. Motorists will also experience closures on I-55 E Frontage Road from Colony Park to Madison Avenue and I-55 W Frontage Road from Madison Avenue to Colony Park.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol, Ridgeland Police Department, and Madison Police Department will be assisting in closing the roads down and the congestion problems that may arise, according to Madison Police Lieutenant Micah Taylor.
