Madison County cities have officially confirmed their events and trick-or-treating plans for Halloween, including Trunk-or-Treats for the kids and other fun, family friendly activities.

Madison

Capt. Kevin Newman of the Madison Police Department said the city is planning to observe Halloween on Monday, Oct. 31, and said officers will be out patrolling neighborhoods with additional DUI officers on the street, since children will be out in droves.

“We want everyone to use extreme caution and keep an eye out for the kids,” Newman said. “Keep in mind adults and children will be out and about, so be careful.”

Director of Economic Development Amy Cummins said while the city is choosing to observe Halloween on Oct. 31, neighborhoods can sign a permit with Economic Development if they choose to have trick-or-treating on a different night to have officers on site.

Cummins said Madison has no official Halloween events planned, but local churches are holding Halloween events.

“First Baptist of Madison had their Fall Festival on Wednesday, Oct. 26, and Parkway Church has a Trunk or Treat at 5 p.m. on Oct. 30,” Cummins said.

Rachel Collier, marketing and sponsorship coordinator for Ridgeland, said the city’s main Halloween event is their Trunk-or-Treat, which is happening at Freedom Ridge park on Thursday, Oct. 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Kids are invited to dress up in costume and bring a bag to collect candy,” Collier said. “The event is for ages 10 and under and admission is $5 per child. There will be local businesses there and kids can go from trunk to trunk for candy. RPD will be also be there.”

Ward said not only is Canton hosting a Trunk-or-Treat on Halloween night at 6 p.m. at the Canton Community Center on 337 North Union Street, but the Suicide Watch and Wellness Foundation is throwing a costume party with prizes at the grand old post office on the Square at 6:30 p.m.
