Guest, Thompson have primary opponents

Party primaries will be held Tuesday to choose the Republican candidate in two of Mississippi’s House Congressional districts, as well as one Democrat.  

Incumbent Michael Guest is facing off against Michael Cassidy and Thomas B. Griffin for the Third Congressional District race. There is no Democratic Primary for that seat. 

Incumbent Bennie Thompson faces Jerry Kerner in the Democratic Primary for the Second Congressional District seat. Four Republicans will battle it out for this district. Michael Carson, Ronald Eller, Brian Flowers and Stanford Johnson will compete to see who takes on the winner between Thompson and Kerner in November. 

Polls are open on Tuesday, June 7, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The absentee voting deadline is noon on Saturday, June 4 at the Madison County Circuit Clerk’s office located at the county courthouse in Canton.
