Gluckstadt dispatch center fully-operational
The Gluckstadt Police Department’s new dispatch center became fully operational at the beginning of June.
The dispatch center, located within the new $8 million Gluckstadt Police Station at 343 Distribution Drive, went online June 1.
Police Chief Barry Hale called the launch “a major milestone nearly three years in the making.”
Since the police department’s start in 2022, dispatch services have been provided through a partnership with the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.
“Their team delivered exceptional support during that time, and we extend our deepest gratitude to Sheriff Randy Tucker and his staff for their outstanding service and collaboration over the past three years,” Hale said in a statement.
The new dispatch facility is part of the 14,000-square-foot police station that opened last fall. The building also houses other police operations and municipal court services.
The Gluckstadt dispatch center will operate with 12-hour shifts, staffed by a dispatch supervisor and dispatchers for each shift, utilizing two advanced dispatch consoles.
Hale praised Dispatch Supervisor Kristen Baker, who joined the department in November 2024. He said Baker “hit the ground running” by developing dispatch policies and procedures, overseeing the computer-aided design (CAD) system setup, managing phone systems, and hiring and training staff to ensure a smooth transition.
For emergencies, residents should continue to dial 911. For non-emergency assistance from the Gluckstadt Police Department, the public can call (769) 225-0162.
