Germantown High transitioning to distance learning

In response to an increase in Covid-19 cases and case contacts among students, Germantown High School will transition to distance learning on Friday, Nov. 13 through the Thanksgiving holiday.

This decision, made in consultation with the Mississippi Department of Health, is in compliance with Madison County Schools’ pandemic protocols to stop the spread of illness.

Distance teaching and learning at GHS will be implemented for eight school days, allowing students to keep up with their school lessons while away from the school building. 

“We are taking proactive steps to stop the spread. While we want to remain on-campus in school, when we see case numbers on the rise for a particular school, we know moving to distance learning is the right decision to stop Covid-19 from spreading,” says Superintendent Charlotte Seals, “We encourage all students, parents, and teachers to be proactive during distance learning days to decrease the community spread of Covid-19: wash your hands, wear your mask, and watch your distance.” 

Recent Covid-19 cases have been traced to off- campus social gatherings. 

Case counts on each campus are monitored regularly, and all other MCS campuses remain open for on-campus teaching and learning at this time.
