Former Ridgeland High School football star Ayden Williams announced his commitment to Mississippi State on Friday morning, after announcing his decision to transfer from in-state rival Ole Miss last week.

Williams played in 19 games during his time with the Rebels, compiling seven catches for 119 yards over two seasons. Even with limited playing time, Williams showed plenty of promise, even in the midst of an extremely talented wide receiver room.

During his time at Ridgeland, Williams established himself as one of the state’s top receivers, hauling in 193 catches for 3,242 yards and 34 touchdowns receiving over four seasons. He also earned all-state honor three times and was a consensus top-100 recruit in the country and a top-three recruit in the state coming out of high school.

Williams announced his decision to transfer from Ole Miss last week and will now have a chance to be one of Mississippi State’s premier options at receiver for the Bulldogs for the final two seasons of his collegiate career.

He is the fifth wide receiver transfer to commit to Mississippi State this offseason, as the Bulldogs and second year Head Coach Jeff Lebby look to rebuild their roster following a 2-10 campaign.

Williams came out of high school as one of the nation’s top receiver prospects and will now look to realize that potential with Mississippi State.
