Former alderman Steve Hickok has died

Former longtime Ward 4 Alderman Steve Hickok has died, Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins-Butler announced Friday evening.

"Madison has lost a true hero with the passing of Alderman Steve Hickok. Hickok, a retired U.S. Army Colonel, served our city with distinction for almost 20 years," she wrote on Facebook. "Madison is a better place because of his service. We salute you, sir, and we will be grateful forever to you."

Hickok resigned in December 2019 because he moved out of the district.
