Conference USA announced the 14 student-athletes receiving the C-USA Fall Spirit of Service Award recently, including Southern Miss senior linebacker Swayze Bozeman of Flora.

The award honors the league’s student-athletes with significant community service endeavors, excellent academic standing and notable athletic achievements.

The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season.

Bozeman, a CoSIDA Academic All-American during his time in junior college and a recipient of the Bill and Amanda Broadhead Endowment Scholarship for football, he volunteered at Bargains and Blessings, passing out food to homeless people, as well as his home church as a Disciple Now Bible study leader and guest speaker for the Men’s Steak Supper.

He also assisted with Vacation Bible School at Venture Church in Hattiesburg. Bozeman helped clean up tornado damage in Sharon, Miss., and led the football team in feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving eve and picking up trash on US Highway 49 this fall.
