Flora firefighters save dog from Saturday kitchen fire

Approximately a dozen Flora firefighters and first responders contained a kitchen fire and saved a dog from a small blaze Saturday.

 

The Flora Fire Department sent two engines in response to the kitchen fire reported at a residence on Railroad Avenue in the early afternoon hours of Saturday, Oct. 9.

 

“Personnel were able to make a quick knockdown of the fire and contain it to the kitchen,” the fire department said in a press statement. “Personnel were also able to rescue a dog from the home. No injuries were reported.”

 

Kearney Park Fire Department also responded to the call.

 

Personnel who responded from FFD included Capt. Hunter Grewe and Firefighters Malcolm Robinson, Derek Jones, Chris May, Amber May, Joe Strickland, John Jolly, Ben West, Justin Poole, Cheyenne Poole and Chase Harrison.
