EXPLORE RIDGELAND WELCOMES NEW SALES MANAGER AND ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS
RIDGELAND, MISS. (Feb. 25, 2025) – The Ridgeland Tourism Commission (RTC - Explore Ridgeland) is pleased to announce the addition of Krystal A. Watson as Sales and Events Manager and the promotion of Crystal Pham to Director of Sales and Events and Mary Byrd to Destination Services Manager.
In her new role, Krystal A. Watson will collaborate with the Director of Sales & Events to promote Ridgeland as a premier tourism destination across multiple group markets, including outdoor and sports tourism, leisure travel, small meetings, group gatherings, and business travelers. She will also focus on maintaining and strengthening relationships within the local tourism industry, assisting with partner initiatives, and supporting cooperative projects.
Watson, a native of Edwards, Miss., brings over a decade of experience in retail management and more than three years as a sales manager in the hospitality industry. She has a deep passion for event planning and excels in building meaningful client relationships, ensuring every detail reflects her client’s unique vision. Watson is a graduate of Hinds Community College with a degree in Fashion and Business and currently resides in Jackson with her Shih-poo, Jace.

Crystal Pham, who has been an integral part of Explore Ridgeland, for two years, has been promoted to Director of Sales & Events. Since joining as Sales & Events Manager, Pham has played a key role in developing partnerships, offering sponsorship opportunities through the Ridgeland Tourism Commission, and overseeing major tourism initiatives. She is an active member of the Madison-Ridgeland Rotary Club and the Mississippi Society of Association Executives (MSAE), further strengthening her ties within the community. In her new role, she will lead sales efforts to attract group travel, oversee event planning, and continue fostering meaningful community engagement through tourism-focused programs.
A proud Mississippi State graduate and Pearl native, Pham has represented Ridgeland at national events such as the TEAMS Conference and Southeast Tourism Society’s Domestic Showcase. She oversees the Bikeshare program, serves on the city’s Bicycle Friendly Community Committee, and seeks opportunities to enhance Ridgeland’s appeal. Pham enjoys traveling, outdoor adventures, escape rooms, life groups, and game nights with friends. A dedicated wife, proud mom, and youth ministry volunteer, she strives to showcase Ridgeland’s charm and true Mississippi hospitality.
Mary Byrd has also played an integral role in Explore Ridgeland for over two years and has been promoted to Destination Services Manager. In this new role, Mary will be the go-to contact for weddings, reunions, and group services in Ridgeland, ensuring seamless planning and exceptional experiences for visitors and event organizers. Her responsibilities will extend to assistance with meetings, partner initiatives, and customer service training for part-time staff, ensuring consistency across all communication channels. Additionally, Byrd will support RTC operations and key projects that align with the RTC Program of Work, helping to enhance Ridgeland’s reputation as a top destination.
Byrd holds a BS Degree from Mississippi College and an MA Degree from NOBTS. She and her husband, Dr. Mark Byrd, have two daughters and love being part of the Ridgeland community. A passionate advocate for the city, Byrd enjoys kayaking, gardening, and volunteering in her church and local organizations.
