Two family-friendly outdoor events are scheduled for this weekend in Ridgeland including a classic European car show and Fall Fest at Northpark mall.

Christy Pender, marketing and business development manager for Northpark said that Fall Fest will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature an art and community experience that brings together families, artists and shoppers to help raise money for the MS Food Network, a local affiliate of Feeding America. The MS Food Network helps provide meals to people in need through a network of food banks while addressing other issues believed to be the root causes of hunger.

“We’re excited to give back to Mississippi families during what has been a very tough year,” Pender said. “Our shoppers are some of the most giving and involved members of our community, and we are pleased to give back to the citizens that have supported Northpark throughout the years.”

Pender said that local mandates and CDC guidelines will be followed to ensure the safety of all attendees.

Activities include a Chalk Walk Space in which visitors will be assigned a parking space to design, a bucket of chalk and a roll of painter’s tape at $20 per space.

“We invite you to be colorful and creative,” Pender said.

Children can also participate in a community mural, part of a partnership with Keep Ridgeland Beautiful. The mural costs a “Pay What You Can” donation, a minimum of $1, to receive a pre-sanitized individual paint bag. Participants can then place their hands in the paint and leave a handprint on the mural in the designated location.

A special event permit submitted and approved by the city board at the October 6 regular meeting says that they expect approximately 50 people at a time that will have registered time slots and signage reminding attendees to maintain social distancing. Northpark personnel will be responsible for providing on-site facilities, including bathrooms.

The Eurofest Car and Motorcycle Show at the Renaissance was postponed last weekend due to severe weather-related to Hurricane Delta. The show was originally slated for this Saturday, Oct.10 but has been rescheduled until this weekend Oct. 17.

Event Organizer MikeMarsh said that they expect to have roughly 125 vehicles on display next weekend. Past events have drawn between 12,000 and 15,000 guests to the Renaissance. Marsh aid the event is still expected to go as planned with cars parading in the evening of Friday, Oct. 16.

“The weekend may have changed but it will still be a fun, free, family event,” Marsh said.

Countries represented are expected to range from Italy, Germany, Britain and Sweden and makes are expected to include Volkswagen, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Daimler, Norton, Ducati, Royal Enfield, BMW, Bugatti, Talbot Lago, Marcos, and Henson to name a few.

This will make the 12th iteration of the regularly occurring event.
