Elizabeth Reddoch Alexander Langley

Elizabeth Reddoch Alexander Langley , 91, died peacefully on October 12, 2021. 

She was buried at Hebron Cemetery on October 15, 2021. 

Elizabeth was a lifelong teacher and super Mom to many. She was known as warm and loving and taught in creative, highly successful ways. Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mississippi State College for Women (MSCW) in Bacteriology in 1950 (1950s speak for Pre Med) and a Master's of Education in 1987 from the University of Southern Mississippi. She taught at McWillie, Jackson Prep and Callaway High School in Jackson and at Watkins High School in Laurel, and was STAR teacher 8 times and a Presidential Scholar teacher twice, receiving her award at the White House. 

Parents, Longino and Mary Wilson Reddoch, raised their daughter in a tight knit family with siblings Jimmy (Maxine), Mary Ann (Charles Murray) and Judy (Roland Wingo), in Hebron, Mississippi. All were teachers as was their mother. 

She is survived by her four children, a son John Alexander; three daughters and their spouses, Mary and Dale MacCurdy, Tricia Alexander and David Killgore, Elizabeth Alexander and John C. Sullivan; step-children, Cathy Barker Shearer, Chris Barker, and John Craig Barker; grandsons, Michael (Britney) MacCurdy, Kevin (Sarah) MacCurdy, Alex (Lisa) MacCurdy, and Brett Shearer; and great-grandchildren, Audrey, Finn and Mara MacCurdy and Joy Shearer. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Wingo, and sister-in-law, Maxine Reddoch, and many much loved nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and loving friends. 

She is pre- deceased by her husband, Bishop Barker; granddaughter, Katie Killgore; daughter-in-law, Ellen Alexander; and step-son, Cort Barker. 

Reverend Caitlin Scanlan officiated a small graveside ceremony in Celebration and remembrance of Elizabeth's life. 

The family thanks April Pitts and all care givers at Beau Ridge and Kare-at-Home Hospice, who lovingly ycared for her during her battle with Alzheimer's disease.
