Jon Marcus Duncan will resign as the head coach of Jackson Prep and is leaving coaching after 25 years at the helm of the girls and boys programs.

Duncan leaves Jackson Prep as the winningest coach in Mississippi high school soccer history, winning 862 games between both the girls and boys program, a milestone he reached during this year’s girls soccer season. He finishes his time at Jackson Prep winning 83 percent of his games.

Duncan has also won an astounding 30 state titles, winning 15 with the girls program and 15 with the boys program at Jackson Prep. On the boys side, Duncan also led Jackson Prep to ten straight state titles from 2011-2020.

During those championship years, Duncan was able to develop some of the state’s best players in his time at Jackson Prep and has sent multiple players to play college soccer at the highest level.

That developmental ability has spanned for Duncan’s entire career as his impressive list of players include two-time Mississippi Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year and All-SEC honoree at Alabama, Laura Beneke, and current junior and Auburn commit, Torrey Polk, on the girls side to name a few.

Duncan has also coached both of his daughters on the Jackson Prep girls soccer team. His oldest daughter, Josie Duncan, won two state titles, before graduating in 2022 and went on to play at Jones College. His youngest daughter, Abby Duncan, wrapped up her senior season at Jackson Prep this year with a state title and will also play at Jones College starting next season.

Duncan capped off the final year of his career at Jackson Prep with a girls state championship win over Jackson Academy and a runner-up finish on the boys side. The Lady Patriots finished with a 17-2-1 record and did not lose to a single team from Mississippi en route to the MAIS Division I state championship.

The Jackson Prep boys program finished the season with a 16-8-1 record and fell in the MAIS Division I title game to Hartfield Academy.

There has been no announcement at this time as to who will replace Duncan at the helm of the Jackson Prep soccer programs.
