Driver accidentally accelerates into Ridgeland restaurant

RIDGELAND — No injuries were reported after a teenager accidentally stepped on the accelerator and drove a vehicle through the front of a restaurant here last week.
Ridgeland Police officers were dispatched at about 8:14 a.m. to Antojitos Emanuel Latin Food, 7048 Old Canton Road, regarding a vehicle that crashed into the business, according to Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers.
“The young driver mistook the accelerator for the brake pedal and inadvertently drove into the glass storefront of the business,” Myers said. “Thankfully, there were no injuries in this incident.”
No charges are expected to be filed.
