Doris Tisdale Spain, age 95,of Madison passed away on June 5, 2020. 

She was born in Laurel, MS on September 28, 1924 to Ambrose M. and Bessie N. Tisdale. 

She moved to Jackson, at an early age where her father established Mississippi Steel and Iron Co. She attended the Jackson Public Schools and graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, MO with a degree in art and graduated from Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans with a degree in interior design. 

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson where she served as president of the Women's Missionary Union (WMU). Doris was an active member in many cultural, social, and civic organizations in Jackson. She served as president of the Goodwill Auxiliary and was the Goodwill Auxiliary Volunteer of the Year in 1979. 

Survivors include her children, Beth Young (Joe) of Ridgeland, Bill Spain of Jackson, and Charles Spain (Janet) of Ridgeland; four grandsons, Spence Young (Dorthy) of Madison, Stewart Young (Brittany) of Lantana, TX, Chad Spain (Lacey) of Brandon, and Alex Spain of Chicago, IL; five great-grandchildren, Marie, Joe, and Grace Young of Madison, Chloe Young and Kian Hobden of Lantana, TX. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Spain, Jr. and her son, James M. Spain, III. A family graveside service was held at Lakewood
