Dan was born in Amory, Mississippi, on March 8, 1958 to Mary English Holliday and Johnny Daniel Holliday. 

A 1976 graduate of Aberdeen High School, he was voted class favorite and friendliest. Dan attended the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity and served as a Delta Gamma house boy. 

Upon graduating from Ole Miss, he became a certified public accountant. Dan was a founding partner in Davenport, Holliday and Spring, which later merged with Carr, Riggs, and Ingram. He was managing partner of their Ridgeland firm and a member of the executive committee. He also served as Construction Line Industry Leader until his retirement. 

Dan was preceded in death by his parents. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Tina Hunter Holliday, of Ridgeland; daughter Lindsey Holliday Luke (Zach) of Greenwood, MS; son Hunter Holliday (Sunny) of Jackson; his beloved grandsons, Zach "Sanders" Luke, Jr. and Grady Holliday Luke of Greenwood; sister Dana Traxler (David) of Sunset, SC; brother David Holliday (Katie) of Memphis, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A funeral service was held October 11, 2021 at Madison United Methodist Church.
