SO vehicles get tracking system again

Madison County Sheriff’s vehicles will get a tracking system again following action by the Board of Supervisors on Monday.

The Board voted to approve a computer tacking system from GeoTech.

Madison County Administrator Shelton Vance presented the plan to the board with approval from Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker.

Tucker was not at the meeting because of a personal matter.

The Sheriff’s Department used to be able to pinpoint its vehicles while on patrol, but has not since a previous system was not renewed.

“This is something we definitely need to have,” said Board President Paul Griffin of the GeoTech system.

Vance outlined the costs of the tracking system to the supervisors.

“So the whole cost would be about $76,000,” said District 4 Supervisor Karl Banks. “Seems good to me.”

In other action, the board:

• Executed fire protection services for Farmhaven Fire Protection District, Kearney Park, Camden and South Madison.

• Approved a quote from Ladnet Testing Laboratories to conduct a geotechnical investigation for a Madison County Shooting Range at a cost of $3,625.
