RIDGELAND — Aldermen approved a conditional use permit last week for an auto repair business to open on Ridgewood Road.

Aldermen unanimously approved a petition and application for a conditional use permit for 646 Ridgewood Road for Edwardo Moreno to operate an auto repair business subject with certain conditions.

The condition set was that business could not paint vehicles, a use that would normally be allowed by the conditional use but is a service the petitioner said he did not intend to offer.

Aldermen asked if any work would be done outside.

"According to the zoning ordinance, all work must be done inside the enclosure of the building," Community Development Director Ala Hart said.

The board also approved a petition and application for a conditional use permit for a church to operate in a storefront at 6510 Old Canton Road.

The item passed unanimously with the added stipulation that the conditional use, which traditionally would run with the land, be revoked if the church were to cease to operate or move locations.
